Sparkle up for summer

Teeth whitening in Camden at Ace Dental is an increasingly popular form of cosmetic treatment because it is an easy, non-invasive way to brighten up tired, discoloured teeth. Although it is true that teeth naturally discolour as we age, the porous nature of tooth enamel holds on to the pigments from what we eat and drink. Red wine, tea, coffee and dark berries can all stain teeth. Even certain medications can cause them to discolour. Smoking is also a major culprit in staining teeth.

When you come to us for teeth whitening, we will check the stains to assess that they are the kind that can be removed with teeth whitening. If they are surface stains, you are good to go. If they are in the enamel itself, we will recommend another treatment to cover them up.

How does it work?

At Ace Dental in Camden, teeth whitening works by using hydrogen peroxide to bleach the tooth enamel. This well-known bleaching agent comes in the form of a gel that we put into a special tray made to fit your mouth.

There are two ways you can have teeth whitening in Camden. The first and quickest way, power whitening, is done during an appointment at Ace Dental in our specially designed whitening room. One of our dentists will fit protective barriers over your gums and lips before putting a tray of more concentrated power whitening gel over your teeth. You then just lie back and relax in a comfortable massage chair in our whitening room, where you can also listen to music or watch TV. As you chill out, the hydrogen peroxide goes to work, aided by a special light. Before you know it, the gel will have done its work on your tooth enamel to make it several shades lighter.

If you are more of a DIY person, you can get a kit from us to carry out the treatment at home. This features a lightweight plastic mould made to fit your mouth for maximum contact with the gel. The home-use gel is less concentrated, so you will need to carry out the treatment every day for at least 2 weeks before you start to see results.
