Cosmetic dentistry is not just about vanity and facial aesthetics. While it may focus on aesthetics, often there are direct health benefits related to your bite, and we never underestimate the major benefits in boosting self-esteem, which improves work and social lives and overall mental wellbeing. We are proud of the work we do in helping our patients feel better about themselves.

Even if we brush daily, our teeth can be stained by the likes of coffee, red wine and smoking. But you don't have to put up with yellow or discoloured teeth. In just one power whitening session at Ace Dental your teeth will be several shades brighter, or you can use our take-home whitening kits and achieve the same result over a period of a few weeks.
Depending on the case and your preference, you can opt for our own Ace Whitening brand of teeth whitening as well as Zoom, which is the biggest selling brand in the United States, and the high quality Enlighten brand, which guarantees a dazzling B1 shade result. In fact, all of these products achieve outstanding results with no discomfort.
Teeth whitening is an effective, long-term solution for most staining problems. Find out more on our Teeth Whitening page.
If your issues are to do with crooked teeth, unwanted gaps or a misaligned bite, it is often necessarily to make corrections with an orthodontic appliance.
At Ace Dental we offer cutting edge orthodontic solutions, including the excellent Quick Straight Teeth range of products.
In every case we use only the best technology we can find to solve your problem. We also make a special point of using almost invisible, comfortable appliances, with the focus on giving you straight teeth in a matter of weeks whenever possible. Find out more on our Orthodontics page.
Because the transformation is so quick, the cosmetic treatment that often brings the biggest smile is dental veneers.
Maybe your teeth are irreversibly stained, crooked or worn, or you have irregular gaps. And maybe you want to get this sorted because it’s affecting your confidence or you just want to look fantastic for a big event like a wedding. If your treatment is date sensitive, make sure you come and see us early so that we have the time to achieve the results you want.
Veneers are strong, wafer-thin porcelain shells custom-made to fit exactly over your teeth. This is a transformative, long-lasting treatment that conserves as much natural tooth as possible.
Sometimes a single veneer is placed to hide a dark tooth but more often with a smile makeover we place multiple veneers – usually from 6 to 10.
Every face is different and there are many types of smile, so your smile makeover starts with a consultation where we find out what you don't like about your teeth and what type of smile is best for you. We then use 3D computer-aided design (CAD) technology to design the smile you want, including tooth shapes and colour.
After taking normal steps to prevent discomfort, we trim a thin layer off the surface and biting edges of the teeth to make room for the veneers. We then take an impression of your teeth and, using the 3D model, make and place temporary veneers. This is an opportunity to fine-tune the tooth shape before we make the permanent veneers.
After removing the temporary veneers we attach the permanent veneers using a very powerful multi-layer bonding system. We then give the veneers a final polish, check your bite and then reveal your new smile.
I’m a celebrity!
Aside from a check a few days later to see that all is well, that’s it: you are the owner of straighter, whiter teeth – your own celebrity smile!
If veneers are the right treatment option for you, expect to be amazed by the results, for you will end up with perfectly natural-looking teeth in just a couple of appointments. Because of the speed of the process and the fact that there are no appliances involved, veneers are ideal if you do not have the time or inclination for orthodontic treatment.
A smile makeover may require more than veneers, too. It could involve orthodontic procedures, crowns, bridges and even dentures, while problems like a gummy smile are also solved.
Few procedures give us as much pleasure as a smile makeover with veneers. It’s all about your reaction when you see your new smile in the mirror for the first time.
If you have a broken tooth or one that has severe decay, it is likely to need a crown. It may also be the best option to align teeth in a smile makeover. At Ace Dental, you will receive a high-quality porcelain crown that will fit perfectly and leave you with a completely natural look.
The consulation/preparation/placement process for a crown is very similar to that outlined above for veneers. We prepare the tooth then take an impression and, using 3D CAD technology, design a new tooth that is an exact replica of your natural tooth. While a temporary crown protects your tooth, our master ceramicist creates your new tooth, which is placed at a subsequent appointment.
You will end up with a strong, durable tooth that perfectly matches the rest of your natural teeth.
In the days when there was no alternative, silver fillings were accepted and did an outstanding job. Where they have never performed well is in how they look. Our teeth are shades of white, so why would we choose to have shades of grey? Not only does a silver filling stand out, but it can also discolour the whole tooth.
Luckily these days there is an alternative: white composite resin – a combination of a resin and nano-particles of glass – that matches your tooth colour exactly. Composite looks great, functions perfectly and is completely safe, and it will last for many years. White filling technology also means that we can remove less of your natural dentition when we prepare the tooth. At Ace Dental we use what we believe are the best composites with exceptional performance qualities and durability.
White fillings are best for small to medium sized cavities. For large cavities we recommend inlays or onlays (see below).
Many of our patients with old silver fillings are coming in to have them replaced with white composite, for cosmetic reasons or because they are concerned about the mercury in silver fillings. If you want to have your silver fillings replaced, for whatever reason, we can bring back that natural look.
With large cavities there may not be enough remaining tooth structure to support a white filling. In this case there is a great alternative: a strong, hard-wearing and long-lasting piece of tooth-coloured porcelain that is designed to exactly fit your tooth, much like a crown but smaller.
There are two types: onlays, which are quite extensive restorations involving one or more cusps (the pointy part on the biting surface of your teeth); and inlays, which are smaller again and do not involve the cusps.
By using an inlay or onlay to repair a broken tooth we are able to retain as much healthy tooth as possible. This imparts extra strength and helps prevent further fracturing. Inlays are used in smaller restorations, usually where strength and/or aesthetics are most important.
Inlays and onlays are very durable, even under high levels of stress, and they have outstanding aesthetic qualities.
Low or uneven gum levels are very common and can have a very negative effect on your smile. The good news is that with modern technology a gum lift is a quick and painless procedure.
At Ace Dental we use a laser to reshape your gums. This technique prevents bleeding, so recovery time is minimal. Gum reshaping is often a procedure we do in combination with veneers.
Often, small problems with your smile – like chips, minor gaps and wear – don’t need big solutions. In these cases we can achieve a lot with state-of-the-art bonding materials that fill gaps and replace missing fragments, and fine instruments that smooth out sharp edges and redefine flat or worn teeth.
Come and see us and we will advise what is the best solution to your problem. You can be sure that we can fix these problems quickly, safely and affordably.
