At Ace Dental, we offer two different kinds of facial aesthetics in Camden: Botox and dermal fillers. If you aren’t sure what we mean by facial aesthetics, you may also know them as anti-wrinkle treatments. These are two in a huge variety of procedures that reduce the signs of ageing such as crow’s feet around the eyes or smoker’s lines around the lips.
As we age, the skin loses its natural elasticity and those daily frowns start to make their mark. And while there is nothing we can do to stop this process from happening, we can alter the appearance of the skin with a little help.
This is the brand name for treatments with botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that temporarily freezes nerve endings. Although it is a poisonous substance in its natural state, botulinum also has many medical applications. It was first developed as a treatment for excessive sweating. In the course of that research it was discovered that it can smooth out wrinkles. This is because it prevents nerve endings from contracting, which causes the wrinkles to appear.
It’s a simple procedure and the whole appointment can be completed in around 30 minutes. It is administered using an injection, which takes 5-10 minutes. It doesn’t register immediately; you’ll need to wait 4-7 days to see the full effect. Botox lasts about 3-4 months, so you can book in for a top-up after three months.
The skin naturally produces hyaluronic acid, the substance that gives it that plump and youthful glow. As we age, we produce less and less of it. Dermal fillers replace this natural substance with hyaluronic acid made from synthetic or plant-based sources.
We use a local anaesthetic with dermal fillers to make sure the treatment is as comfortable as possible for you. The injection takes a few minutes and you can see the effects straight away. It lasts from 6-12 months and you can have a follow-up appointment once the effects are starting to wear off.
Both treatments with facial aesthetics in Camden are quick and simple, so you can go about your daily life straight afterwards.Back to Blog
