Using removable appliances for straighter teeth

Many adults, when asked what they would like to change about their smile, reply that they would like straighter teeth. However, the thought of having to wear braces for any period of time is enough to put many people off seeking treatment.

Traditional metal braces, with their “train-track” style wires and brackets, are very obvious, and even clear and tooth-coloured fixed appliances can interfere with your lifestyle, as they require careful cleaning, more frequent visits to the dentist and hygienist, and can affect your speech, your diet and ability to pursue interests such as playing musical instruments in the early days.

That’s why, for mild to moderate cases of crowded teeth, misaligned teeth and bites, and gaps between the teeth, we recommend using removable clear appliances.

These appliances work in a similar way to fixed braces, gently guiding your teeth into a more desirable position. They have two key features: they are removable, meaning you can take them out to eat – so your diet isn’t restricted – and to clean, and they are clear, meaning that when you are wearing them, nobody will notice you are having orthodontic treatment.

At Ace Dental we have several options for treatment with clear orthodontic appliances. The best option for you will depend on your clinical needs and your lifestyle, and will be fully discussed at your initial consultation. Here are the options we offer:

Quick Straight Teeth

Quick Straight Teeth offer a range of clear, removable appliances that use gentle forces to guide your teeth into a new position. These plastic appliances are incredibly comfortable and highly discreet, using state-of-the-art technology to change the position of your teeth. Average treatment time is between six and 16 weeks.

Inman Aligner

This clear aligner is great for treating protruding or crowded front teeth. Its unique design utilises gentle forces applied to the front and back of the teeth to move them quickly and safely. Average treatment time is between six and 18 weeks, and you can remove the aligner to eat and to clean.

Invisalign

Invisalign comprises a series of clear aligners that guide your teeth into a new position. Each set of between 18 and 30 aligners is made to fit your teeth perfectly, and you will need to change your aligner approximately every two weeks as your teeth move. It can correct a wide range of problems, and has average treatment times of between nine and 15 months
