Facial aesthetics and removing wrinkles

As we get older, the stresses and strains of everyday life can start to show on our faces. Lines and wrinkles can appear that make us look old before our time. While once the only option to reverse these signs of ageing was surgery, now there are many minimally-invasive facial aesthetics treatments available that can restore a more youthful appearance to your skin, leaving you looking and feeling many years younger. At Ace Dental our fully qualified practitioners offer facial aesthetics treatment with botulinum toxin and dermal fillers. One of the major benefits of receiving facial aesthetics treatment from a dentist is that dentists have expert knowledge of facial structure and anatomy, and can deliver treatments in a precise, controlled manner for an entirely natural-looking result. Botulinum toxin Botulinum toxin is used to treat unwanted lines and wrinkles on the face, including frown lines, crows’ feet, forehead lines and smokers’ lines around the lips, among other areas. These lines and wrinkles are caused by continual contraction of the facial muscles. By injecting these muscles with small amounts of botulinum toxin, they are forced to relax, which smooths out the skin and results in a more youthful appearance. The tiny injections are quick and painless, and treatment typically takes between five and 10 minutes. Results will take a few days to fully develop, with maximum results usually seen after four to seven days. Depending on the area treated, results will last between three and six months, after which repeat treatment will be required. Dermal fillers Our skin contains hyaluronic acid, which is gradually lost as we get older, leading to unwanted wrinkles and lines. Dermal fillers work by replacing this hyaluronic acid, plumping out the skin to give a more youthful appearance. They are made from sterile hyaluronic acid gels from non-animal sources, and are the perfect way to reduce lines and wrinkles, as well as to enhance the lips and to shape the contours of the face, neck and hands. Dermal fillers are carefully injected into the required area after local anaesthetic has been applied, so you should feel no discomfort. Results will be visible immediately, and will last between six and 12 months depending on the area treated before repeat treatments are required.
